I want to self-host my password manager
You want your vault data on infrastructure you own. You're comfortable with Docker, basic server administration, and taking on the operational responsibility that comes with removing the cloud provider.
Bitwarden. The only option in this comparison with a supported self-hosted deployment. Official Docker stack, or Vaultwarden as the lightweight community alternative.
Self-hosting transfers control but doesn't automatically increase security. A poorly maintained self-hosted instance — outdated containers, exposed ports, no backup — may be less secure than a well-maintained cloud service. Operational discipline is the requirement.
