PureVPN vs Mullvad

PureVPN is the more straightforward streaming choice. Mullvad is the more interesting option when open client code, multi-hop, and cash payment are part of your privacy routine.

Major-platform access is confirmed

PureVPN currently supports access to major streaming platforms. Reliable major-platform streaming is not confirmed for Mullvad. If streaming is a regular reason for turning the VPN on, this is the cleanest practical difference in PureVPN's favor.

The jurisdictional signal also differs

PureVPN is registered outside the Five/Nine/Fourteen Eyes surveillance alliances. Mullvad is registered in a Five/Nine/Fourteen Eyes member country. That only matters if jurisdiction is part of your own trust model, but it is a documented difference rather than a marketing impression.

The client apps are open source

Mullvad's client apps are open source across the supported platform set. Not all of PureVPN's client apps are open source. If you want the client side to be inspectable instead of closed, that is a direct reason to lean toward Mullvad.

Multi-hop and cash payment are both available

Mullvad has a confirmed multi-hop route in the current feature set. Built-in multi-hop is not part of PureVPN's confirmed feature set. Mullvad supports cash payment. PureVPN does not currently support cash payment. Those two options serve different people, but neither is just a cosmetic checkbox if you already know you want it.
